HERE ARE THREE GREAT
BOOKS FOR ANY CHILD THAT
LOVES DOGS..
Synopsis: All kids want a dog, and the little girl in I Want a Dog! is no
different. She begs, wheedles, and promises anything if she can only
have a dog. She really will take care of it and after all, it’s only a dog—
not a hippo or a pig. This common plea will ring true to all kids and
caregivers (and a few folks in the White House). I Want a Dog! is loaded
with pull-tabs, lift-the-flaps, a changing-picture wheel, and a pop-up
finale. (And it doesn’t require walking, feeding, or grooming.)
Once a year, the dogs in the paintings in London’s National Gallery have an exciting night out.
For a few hours, they escape their gilded frames and are free to run up and down the grand
staircases, chase each other round the marble halls, and explore the other exhibits. But four of
the dogs overindulge and sleepily climb back into the wrong paintings. When the mix-up is
discovered, the museum’s popularity soars! This playful story, with superb illustrations by Alan
Curless and lovely reproductions of National Gallery paintings, provides young children with a
charming introduction to fine art.
THe abiding trust, loyalty, and love between children and their dogs shine
from the pages of this unique collection of antique and vintage
photographs. Taken between 1875 and 1925, the charming mix of posed
portraits and informal snapshots offers a poignant glimpse at childhood
from a bygone era, while capturing the special character of these devoted
canine companions. Whether hound or herding dog, terrier or toy breed,
pampered purebred or motley mutt, these pages reveal the timeless truth
that every little girl and boy'
