Hand Applique in a Morning

Have a hand applique project you'd like to try, but do not know where to start?  Learn how to mark your background fabric, prepare applique pieces, make bias stems, stitch invisibly and handle inner/outer points.  All in one morning!  Beginner class.

The instructor will provide the pattern, freezer paper, and the appliqué needle for the class.

You will need to bring the following:
Fabric:
One 8” square of a light fabric that will be your background
One 8” square of red fabric
0ne 8” square of green fabric
[Note:  these amounts are generous; you can bring assorted scraps of red but you will need a big piece of the green to cut a bias stem]
Threads to match the red and the green fabrics

Notions:
Washable blue marker, preferably fine point
Water-soluble glue stick
Straight pins, longer and thinner the better
Needle threader, either Clover or wire, for straw needle—you WILL need one!
Small scissors for cutting paper*
Small scissors for cutting fabric and threads*
Glasses if needed for close work
Rotary cutter
12-18” ruler with 45 degree lines for rotary cutting [classroom has a mat]

*Recommend 3”-5” scissors, not 8” shears, due to size of pieces to be cut
