Slice of Cake 2

This pattern uses a layer cake. If you have a layer cake at home that you have been itching to use, bring it in for this class. An appropriate background fabric must be selected based on your existing layer cake, in order to allow the layer cake fabric to not blend into the background.

If you do not have a layer cake, there are layer cakes available at the shop.

This class covers how to sew the layer cake to the background fabric, and then cut the fabric in a manner that results in a 8 pointed asterisk.  The creative grids 10 1/2" cutting tool allows you to easily frame the square to trim perfectly with the center placed in the middle of the asterisk.

This is a perfect pattern with bright small printed fabrics.  This is not a pattern to use with large prints, unless that are considerable colors in the fabric, since the images will not be viewable in the finished block.
