| The" Hangout" opened in Jan 2005. It was a dream come true for both Gayle Cowdin and Debbie Olive. We spent many years planning and preparing ourselves. After visiting many, many shops and taking mental notes of what we liked and didn't like,the beginnings of our shop were born. We had a family contest to find a name for the shop. Gayle's mother Pat was our winner! "Quilt Lovers' Hangout" it was just the kind of name we were looking for! After having a name it was time to find the perfect spot. We hunted just the rightspot. Once we had a lease, the real work started! Gayle and I worked many long hours with a bit ofhelp from the husbands. We built all the shelves, cutting table, checkout stand, put up a wall etc. We will always have great memories from the very beginning of the making of our shop! We have now been open 7 years in Jan 2012.We expanded 3 1/2 years ago, taking the shop from the existing area of 2500 sq ft to 4500 sq ft. Coming to the "Hangout" everyday to work is a real treat! There are so many wonderful people to meet and great show and tells being shown. There is always something new and different happening at the" Hangout"! For almost the 1st year Gayle and I worked the shop by ourselves, which made for some long days. Notthat we didn't love every minute of it. But we have grown so much that we could no longer do it alone.So we have added several new face since the those first days! There was Daina, who we are sad tosay just passed away in April 2011. Sandy walked in the doors of the shop looking for a job 31/2 yearsago. Barbara who we call Barb joined us not long after. Since then we have added Pam who has been teaching here for 3 years and working with us for 1 1/2 yrs. Toni and Lisa are our new girls who just started in late April. Lisa is Debbie's daughter in law and donates her time when she can. We feel blessed to have the 5 girls that we have. Each one of them is special in her own way and has much to offer to the shop and our customers. We are sure you will find all the girls very helpful and fun to work with. They always have a smile and a warm hello to all that come into the"Hangout."We can't thank our customers enough for helping make our dream of Quilt Lovers' Hangout come true.
