TOTES FOR  THE BREAST HEALTH CENTER'S

Lee and Collier Counties
Project Hope

Quilt Lovers' Hangout is excited to announce their
partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southwest
Florida Affiliate®. This partnership developed after the
shop and their customers made tote bags for Lee
Memorial Health System Breast Health Center in October
for breast cancer awareness month. The totes were such
a huge success, Dara Leichter, Breast Health Educator
from the Breast Health Center contacted the Susan G
Komen for the Cure of SW Florida Affiliate® about what we
were doing. The Affiliate then contacted the shop asking
for help in the Education Committee’s Project Hope. Quilt
Lover’s Hangout volunteers will donate their time to make
bags of which the Komen Affiliate will supply the funds for
the fabric and supplies necessary to make the totes. The
totes will be distributed through the Komen Affiliate to
clinics and doctors offices working with newly diagnosed
breast cancer survivors and filled with goodies to show
support for those dealing with the diagnosis of breast
cancer. Quilt Lovers' Hangout is looking to the public for
help. The Center needs 300 + Totes this year. Anyone
who sews usually has a few scraps of fabric, what would
be called a stash, and Quilt Lovers' Hangout is asking
sewers of Lee County to dip into their shades of pink stash
and help by making a tote for a great cause!. The totes
need to be approximately 17 inches by 17 inches.  Bright
cheerful colors work best, with lots of pink for breast
cancer awareness.  All you need is a small amount of
fabric, a few hours time and a caring heart. The totes will
benefit survivors in Lee and Collier County's' undergoing
treatment for breast cancer.  After the totes are made they
will be distributed through the Komen Affiliate. You can go

turns out 60 Tote Bags for Project
Hope
This wonderful group of  ladies  get
together  while they are down here for
the winter to make charity quilts. The
group started 6 years ago with 10 and
has now grown to 50. The ladies
contacted us here at the shop asking to
help out with our Tote Bags for Project
Hope.
Quilt Lovers' Hangout  supplied the
fabric and they did the rest! Just look at
all the wonderful bags they made.
